I decided to do the play-by-play announcing for only the first quarter. I put the television on mute and began to act as if I were really play by play announcing to the world. It felt pretty silly at first since it was just me in the room and silent but I got into it a little more and more as the time passed. I found it actually very difficult to keep it interesting without a person beside me to keep a conversation with. Every sporting event has at least two or three people casting a game. I also found it very difficult to not root for the Cowboys when they did good or talk down on the Giants. This is something I am going to definitely have to work on before I am allowed to do play-by-play for any Dallas team.
All in all I found it quite interesting and fun and it made me want to get into the career even faster. Play-by-play announcing for any team is definitely something that I would be interested in as a long-term career if I am not able to land a job as an anchor on Sportscenter or a job with the Dallas Cowboys or Dallas Mavericks.
Hey Clint, I enjoyed reading your blog. It always finds a new way to interest me because it is mainly talking about sports. Anyway I understand you are a die hard Dallas sports fan, but if it came down to it, would you rather announce for the Cowboys or the Mavericks? And which sport would you prefer to specialize in as an announcer, Basketball, or Football?
ReplyDeleteHi Clint! I really liked your blog because I am pretty interested in sports and a sports broadcaster seems like an awesome job! Are you only interested in broadcasting for football? Also, what else was hard about it besides not being biased, did you have trouble not stuttering or keeping up with the plays?
ReplyDeleteJGraves: I think if it came down to it I would rather announce for the Cowboys, however, basketball is my favorite sport and the one I excelled at so it might actually make more sense to announce basketball games. Either way, I'm sure I would be happy with either team.
ReplyDeleteErin: I'm interested in football and basketball mainly but also open to announcing baseball games. It was kind of hard keeping up with the plays and not repeating myself over and over again. I had a little bit of trouble with stuttering just because I was trying to think of new ways to say the same thing basically.
